Blest Those Who Trust

28 Feb

Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD,
whose hope is the LORD.
He is like a tree planted beside the waters
that stretches out its roots to the stream:
It fears not the heat when it comes,
its leaves stay green;
In the year of drought it shows no distress,
but still bears fruit.  (Jer 17:7-8)

Life is not always easy.

However, if we trust in God, He will care for us.

This, in my way of thinking, is made so clear this day when our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI steps down from the papacy.  Not because he does not trust in God; but, because he does.

He made it very clear in his final general audience yesterday that his decision to resign from the papacy was made in deep trust of God, knowing that he was doing God’s will in sacrificing for the Church.

We are called to trust as completely this day.

FAITH ACTION:  Make sure that, in all of our hopes, plans, and dreams this day, our trust is rooted firmly in the Lord and not in ourselves.

Today, at 2:00 p.m. Eastern/1:00 p.m. Central Time, Pope Benedict XVI’s resignation takes effect.  Kindly pray for him, that God be with him throughout his remaining years.
