Jesus Had A Purpose. Do You?

16 Jan

Rising very early before dawn,
he left and went off to a deserted place, where he prayed.
Simon and those who were with him pursued him
and on finding him said, “Everyone is looking for you.”
He told them, “Let us go on to the nearby villages
that I may preach there also.
For this purpose have I come.”
So he went into their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons
throughout the whole of Galilee.  (Mk 1:35-39)

Jesus was a true “healing machine”.  Everywhere He went, people brought their sick to Him.  Everywhere He went, He cured the sick and raised the dead.

Today’s Gospel is no exception.

Jesus heals Peter’s mother-in-law.  Afterwards, all the sick in the town came out to Him to be cured — and they were.

The next day, Jesus rose early and went to the desert to pray.  He did a lot of that.

When He returned, He found that there were many more looking for Him.

However, He indicated that there were even more that had not had the chance to experience His healing yet and that He was bound and determined to go out to them all.

And He did just that, going out to their synagogues, preaching and driving out demons through the whole of Galilee.

FAITH ACTION:  We oftentimes act as if we do not have the time to help others.  The fact of the matter is, Jesus wants us to use our time — as He did — reaching out to others.  To whom can you reach out today?
