Beloved

12 Dec

Sing and rejoice, O daughter Zion!
See, I am coming to dwell among you, says the LORD.
Many nations shall join themselves to the LORD on that day,
and they shall be his people,
and he will dwell among you,
and you shall know that the LORD of hosts has sent me to you.
The LORD will possess Judah as his portion in the holy land,
and he will again choose Jerusalem.
Silence, all mankind, in the presence of the LORD!
For he stirs forth from his holy dwelling.  (Zec 2:14-17)

It is wonderful to be beloved, isn’t it?

From the time we are first born, we do all that we can to make ourselves feel beloved.  We snuggle up to our mother, we crave the cuddles we get from our moms and dads, and, in the process, we feel as if we truly belong.

We long for that bond.

We long for a spiritual bond as well.  We long to feel God in our lives.

God IS in our lives.  He loves us and cares for us more than we will ever know.

Thank God for the example of the great saints who show us not only that God is in our lives but who also show us how to respond to that love.

Today we celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.

The Blessed Virgin Mary is a prime example of how we are to respond to the love of God.

We respond best, merely, by saying “Yes!”

FAITH ACTION:  Pray a rosary today, reflecting upon the witness and example of Mary and asking her intercession that you, too, might say yes to God’s holy will.
