Month Of Souls

29 Nov

The month of November is traditionally a month dedicated to praying for the souls of the faithful departed and, in a most particular way, for family and friends who have gone before us.

The last two days of this month will be spent with the wake today and the funeral tomorrow of one of our retired priests, Fr. Matthew Kish.

Fr. Kish, who was 95 years old, has been retired for many years now.  He has spent a good part of his retired years with the Albertine Sisters in the Albertine Home in Hammond.

Fr. Kish has longed for death these past few years.  He finally got his wish on Thanksgiving Day.

I ask you to pray for the repose of the soul of Fr. Matthew Kish as well as the bishops, priests, deacons, and religious who have been a part of the Diocese of Gary.  Remember to continue to pray for all the faithful departed as well.

We pray for them in hopes that, some day, others will pray for us when we are at need.

FAITH ACTION:  Pray for the departed some time during this day.

Eternal rest grant to them, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon them.

May they rest in peace.
Amen

May the souls of the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
Amen
