Humility

23 Jul

You have been told, O man, what is good,
and what the LORD requires of you:
Only to do the right and to love goodness,
and to walk humbly with your God.  (Mi 6:8)

In today’s Gospel, the scribes and Pharisees demand a sign of Jesus.  Jesus tells them that no sign will be given because they had already had enough signs.

If the people of Nineveh had seen what the Lord’s people saw, they would have repented.  If the people of Sodom and Gomorrah saw what the Lord’s people saw, they would have never been destroyed.

They would have repented.

They would have been saved.

In our own lives, we so often test the Lord.  We demand signs.  However, many have already been given to us.  We have just been too stubborn to see them.

God is active and present in our lives.  He has been with us from the very first moment that He called us into existence and He will remain with us until He calls us back to Himself where we will have the opportunity to remain with Him forever.

The only problem is that so many people take their eyes off of the Lord.  They quit looking for the path.

What do we need to do?

Walk humbly with our God.

FAITH ACTION:  In silent prayer, ask the Lord to reveal to you all that He has done for you.  Recognize it and thank Him for it.  All that we have, all that we are, came to us because of God, not because of ourselves.
